Unhooked Railey
Once you have learned to unhook and hook back in its time to start learning some unhooked tricks. A good first move to learn is the unhooked railey.
Unhooked Railey
- Ride a long at a comfortable speed
- Bare off downwind and unhook
- Edge as hard as you can by leaning your ass as far back into the water as possible.
- Pop hard by aggressively pushing through your back foot.
(Edge hard and pop is a short quick movement.)
- Allow your front hip to open allowing you to drive harder through your back foot
- Keep your shoulders facing forward.
- Relax your arms and let the kite out stretch you. (The forward pull of the kite is what allows you to get horizontal.)
- Tuck your head in between your arms or look over your front shoulder. If you look over your front shoulder it makes it easier to spot your landing.
- Look to where you are landing and step your front foot as far forward as you can so that you land heading straight down wind.
- Hook back in
- Edge
- Ride away.
Common Problems
Not getting any height? You may be edging too hard for too long causing your kite to shoot to the edge of the wind window killing your pop. Try to edge hard and pop over a fraction of a second.
You keep getting lofted? You are pulling on your back hand as you come into land. Try really hard to train your brain to lean on your front hand as you land. This will give you more control and make it easier to hook back in. Always point your board downwind for landings.

Great info dude thanks for useful post. I’m waiting for more
