South Africa is one of the main winter destinations where you can almost guarantee to head out for warmer climes and regular winds. Its windy season runs from November until April and it is a country where you can depend on for scenery, food and great prices too. It’s a place where you can kite under the African sun day in, day out on no bigger than 9m.
On this incredible adventure we will venture to a variety of locations to kite in the versatile conditions that South Africa has to offer. We will begin with one week in the easy to ride flat water lagoon of Langebaan, 120km’s north of Capetown where the water is warmer, shallower and flatter then in Capetown itself. We will stay in a lovely double story 5 bedroom house with breathtaking views over the lagoon. It is fully equipped and has a stunning indoor and outdoor bbq area to soak up the evening sun after our full days’ kiting on the water.
The wind is generally tamer here than in Capetown so you can feel safe and secure while learning the tricks that Jo Wilson will be guiding you through. After week one it will be time to pack up, ship out and head to our second location of your holiday - The infamous Blouberg. Here you can see the kitesurfing legends of the world kite and have the opportunity to watch The Redbull King of the Air live.
Here in Blouberg the conditions offer rolling waves or various sizes, but not usually more then head high. Jo Wilson will guide you to the best spots of the day looking for fun, challenging, yet safe conditions. It is during this second week that you will have the chance to kite at a multitude of spots or to visit some of South Africa’s greatest landmarks - examples include Table Mountain, Cape Point & the Stellanbosch Vineyards!
There are a maximum number of 8 spaces available and partners are welcome too. Your partner can learn with the local kite school if they fancy. For your coaching sessions you will be split into small groups of 3-4 to keep the coaching dedicated to your own goals and maximise time for one to one coaching.
Jo will provide intensive coaching sessions for each group on a daily basis for the first week and daily guidance on the second. This trip provides a good balance between intense coaching and relaxed free riding where you can practise the techniques suggested.
This trip will be an unforgettable experience where you will go home with the satisfactory aches and pains of too much time on the water plus the photos and video footage to prove it. With your new tricks up your sleeve Jo aims to send you back feeling happier, healthier, fitter and ready to rock on the water on your return.
